On June 14, 2023, an Icelandic-Polish cooperation seminar was held in Warsaw, organized by the Embassy of Iceland in Poland in cooperation with the National Energy Authority. The aim of the Seminar was to identify and improve various opportunities for cooperation between Iceland and Poland and to raise interest in broader cooperation in the field of geothermal heating, renewable energy sources, increased energy security, as well as various opportunities regarding energy transition, renewable energy sources, hydrogen and CCS.
In recent years, there has been a significant development in cooperation between Poland and Iceland, as well as other partners from countries such as Norway, Hungary and Slovakia, in the use of geothermal and more broadly renewable energy, as well as environmental and climate initiatives. This cooperation has been facilitated by various EEA programs and projects.
The collaboration included several projects already completed and ongoing projects such as KeyGeothermal, User4GeoEnergy and GeoModel, which played a significant role in preparing the seminar and strengthening cooperation between municipalities, cities and the business sector in the respective countries.
